Flight Path is an umbrella group formed in 1999 which acts to advise and coordinate a large number of local residents’ and other groups in monitoring expansion at Biggin Hill Airport which has announced plans to take up to 500,000 passengers a year.
Flight Path is not anti-Biggin Hill Airport, but it is opposed to its further development and keen to see that the airport’s operations remain within the bounds of the lease it signed with the London Borough of Bromley. Delegates to Flight Path meet on an ad hoc basis to discuss particular items as the need arises.
Any affiliated group is free to take whatever action its members deem appropriate in relation to Biggin Hill Airport. Their actions can be guided by the greater experience of other Flight Path members if they require such help. Affiliated organisations usually advise Flight Path members of the actions they are taking which results in other member organisations often taking similar or supporting actions where appropriate.
Flight Path meets with the executive and officers of the London Borough of Bromley from time to time in order to discuss particular matters and attempt to represent the interests of all affiliated organisations.
To maintain and limit the operations of Biggin Hill Airport within the bounds of the lease with its landlord. Flight Path also lobbies for wide public consultation before any changes are made to the airport’s lease.
